Bug Fixes

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:28 am

Just in case you’re wondering, we’re still hard at work fixing bugs as we find them or as you come across them. We would like to thank the MODx community for helping us track down issues related to runtime environment, relative pathing, and throwing in the occasional feature request. We’re enthusiastic about being a part of the MODx community and we hope that KiweeCommerce can quickly become a ModX standard for a fully featured e-commerce solution. We plan on releasing another nightly release tomorrow afternoon which should fix some (but not all) of the issues that you have been experiencing. If you find that we haven’t addressed a bug, please feel free to leave us a forum post or leave us a bug report.

If you’re curious about what we have been fixing, here is a list of this week’s tasks for KiweeCommerce:

  • Add a mailer - This will be an order confirmation mailer which may use the Smarty templating engine.
  • Add a postback confirmation page - This will be a final confirmation which shows a customer their order number and details after they perform the checkout.
  • Options Handling - We have been finding bugs here and there related to the pricing calculation of product options during checkout. We have about 90% of that fixed right now, but we also want to fix the dynamic price updater (50% implemented) which updates the item’s price on the screen as a customer chooses options with price offsets.
  • Localization - We are slowly, but surely, breaking out the admin pages from Kiwee’s menu so that the content is stored in lang entries. We will most likely have this implemented in a week or so as we are converting about one page per day.
  • Style - We are working on fixing some style elements in the admin interface (ie: making all the buttons the same color)

There are many other things we are fixing, but there are too many to list here. We’ll keep you posted though as we discuss new features.

As a side note, we have been looking into the problem that some of you have posted in the forum regarding the fact that page stubs are not being created when you add a new item. We have only experienced this on the OS X system that one of our in-house developers was using. It won’t be fixed in this release, but we’ll try to have a fix for it early next week.

Next on our list

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:27 pm

XAMPP installs are now working, and we’ve been fixing some other bugs here and there. Thanks to all who have reported problems - we’re working on fixing things as quickly as we can.

We’ve been talking about priorities for future releases, and here’s where we are now. Comments (here or in the forum) would be appreciated:

  1. Finish cleaning up the admin interface to remove admininterop.php completely.
  2. Move the front-end to the same ajax methods we now use in the admin interface.
  3. Add support for some basic shippers. We already have USPS code working - we just need to actually implement it, and support some more vendors.

KiweeCommerce Localization

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:52 am

Hi Everyone,

I happened to notice that people are asking about localization. We have about 30-35% of the admin interface handled with lang entries. So we still have a little ways to make Kiwee support localization. It is on our “to do” list as we are changing the way we are handling lang entries on the backend. As soon as we get to a checkpoint, we will go back and make the rest of the admin interface “localization friendly.”

KiweeCommerce Downloads…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:46 am

So…it’s official, KiweeCommerce is available for download and in just less than 12 hours we’ve had about 40 downloads. That’s not bad considering they were from the hours of midnight (-5 GMT) through 7:30 AM! We realize that some of our downloaders have experienced problems during installation related to PHP5 prerequisites and the fact that the installer currently only works under Linux. Not to worry though, we will be hard at work today trying to reduce outside dependencies and by the end of the week, we aim to have a Windows-compatible installer available for release. If you have been able to install Kiwee and you’ve had a chance to start toying around with it, we’d like to hear from you on the forum. Tell us what you would like to see, what you see but isn’t fully implemented, etc.

KiweeCommerce v1.0 Released

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:31 pm

We’ve just released KiweeCommerce under the GPL. We hope MODx developers will find it useful. KiweeCommerce is a fully-featured e-commerce module for MODx which integrates tightly with the CMS, so site admins can take full advantage of everything a CMS has to offer while running a Web store.

KiweeCommerce is still under active development. Right now, the shipping, discount rate, and tax modules are configurable but not yet used during the checkout. We’ll be adding those features, cleaning up bugs, and addressing potential security holes over the next few weeks.

If you have any suggestions for other features to add, please join our forum and give us your feedback!
